Kate Cardone

CO NSLC SC Director**

Kate was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Northern Virginia. Kate is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker; she completed a B.A. at The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, a master’s degree in social work at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in social work at the University of Southern California.

Kate met and married Daryle while he was stationed in Washington, DC serving on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations. They married in 2007. Kate has two beautiful girls, her stepdaughter, Gianna (25) and daughter, Emma (23). Kate most recently worked as Deputy Executive Director of I Need A Lighthouse, Inc, an organization providing educational programs to teens and young adults around depression awareness and suicide prevention.

In addition to command tours with the USS RONALD REAGAN, USS LEWIS B PULLER, and VAW-121, Kate and Daryle’s Navy journey has included tours at VAW-120 where Daryle served as XO, aboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON where Daryle also served as XO, and an additional tour at VAW-121 where Daryle was a Department Head. They have also spent time in Washington, DC where Daryle served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. The Cardones recently moved back to Washington, DC where Daryle is currently serving as Director of Operations and Plans (N3), Office of the Chief of Naval Operations.

Kate’s 17 years as a Navy spouse have included 10 deployments and 1 year in which Daryle geo bached to Charleston, SC. Over that time Kate has developed a deep appreciation for the support and friendship of amazing Navy spouses and our Navy community. She has completed Ombudsman Basic Training, Family Readiness Group Basic Training and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. Kate has been involved with FRGs and officer spouse groups at multiple commands, including 5 tours as a CO/XO spouse. She has served as president of the Naval Officers’ Spouses’ Club of Washington, DC and the VAW/VRC Officers’ Spouses’ Association. She is currently serving as Director of the CSLC Mentoring Committee (CO/XO side).

Kate enjoys reading, walks with her 5-year-old golden retriever Zoey, Pilates, and catching up with friends. She especially treasures time with her daughters.
