Cherry King

Cherry is a native of Columbia, Tennessee where she graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1992. In 1994, she received her Certificate of Data Entry from the Tennessee Technology School of Nashville.
Chris and Cherry started their Navy journey together in 1995. They have called San Diego, Virginia Beach, Pensacola, Jacksonville, Newport, Honolulu, Yokosuka Japan and currently Okinawa, Japan home. The different communities they have enjoyed included the Aviation community (F-14 Tomcats, SH-60B Helicopters), Surface community, as well as leadership and technical schools.
Cherry has served as an advisor to various Family Readiness Groups (FRG), Ombudsman teams, as well as attending many trainings, with her husband’s commands. While stationed in Hawaii, she served on the Steering Committee for Continuum of Resources and Education (CORE) which is a volunteer-led Naval Services FamilyLine Program that offers seminars and workshops. She also served as an advisor to the Yokosuka Chiefs Spouse Association from 2020-2021 while stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. Cherry has also completed training in LivingWorks Start (suicide prevention training), ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and Psychological First Aid: Supporting Yourself and Others During COVID-19. Cherry also served as the Asia Representative, Deputy Director and currently the Director of the NLEC Spouse Leadership Course Steering Committee CMC/COB.
Cherry has been married to her husband Chris for 27 years and they have 4 children.
