Caroline Donnelly

CO NSLC SC Director

Caroline was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and was raised in the small town of Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 1990, she received a B.S. in Fine Arts from Radford, University. After graduation, she accepted a job in Virginia Beach and that is where she met her husband, Buzz. They married in November of 1994.

After several years in Virginia Beach, the couple’s first move was to Newport, RI for Naval War College. After completion of the program, they moved to Brussels, Belgium, where Buzz served on the International Staff at NATO Headquarters. Following their stint in Belgium, the couple was in stationed in Lemoore, California. At NAS Lemoore, Buzz was XO of VFA 122 and later XO/CO of VFA 154. His first command tour was followed by a tour at the Pentagon as the F/A-18 requirements officer at Air Warfare Directorate (N88/N98).

After selection and training for the Aviation Nuke Power Community, Buzz served as the XO of USS NIMITZ, the CO of USS DENVER, Aircraft Carrier Requirements Branch head, CO of USS RONALD REAGAN, Commander Naval Forces Korea and CTF70 CSG5 Commander in Yokosuka.

Caroline and Buzz have been married for 28 years. They have moved 11 times and completed 15 deployments with four geographical bachelor tours. Throughout her time as a military spouse, Caroline has been active with numerous spouse groups and boards as well as served as the senior spouse advisor to several Family Readiness Groups and the Officer Spouses Association of Yokosuka. She also served as the Asia Representative for the Command Spouse Leadership Committee.

Caroline and Buzz have four daughters. Their eldest, Elisabeth is a graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy and recently completed her Masters in Maritime Policy at the University of Washington. Their second daughter, Sarah completed her Masters in counseling and is currently working with military families in Hawaii. Daughter number three, Mary Logan graduated with a degree in elementary and special education and is currently working for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Their youngest, Maggie is a rising junior at University of Washington.
